Sign of Our Times

You are gazing at humanity’s translational perceptual device at its most bare.  Aware of it or not, dependent as we are on its subtle dynamics for continuity in the perception of existence itself, The Glyph functions at all times and all places as our relational prism, among all objects, both real and imagined.  

From humanity’s relational and perceptual activities, a Sign of our Times has emerged — for our social consideration, self cultivation, and planetary preservation.  

Since humanity’s beginning, The Glyph wears countless disguises.  Re-reconfigurations of its relational structure are known across the globe, mostly through symbol and metaphor.  The Glyph ceaselessly and faithfully translates all, broadly and deeply.  Its reporting is ruthless, unearthing pretense, perceptiveness, and unspeakable truth in religion, science, and philosophy alike.

To understand in the broadest sense how The Glyph operates, consider biological existence, emerging continually, potentiated by DNA’s continuity between structure and function.  It is a gift of nature that, while mysterious in its origin, is itself both knowable and useful.   The Glyph is that way too. 

To understand why The Glyph should even Be, acknowledge the implications of rich metaphor, like The Tree of Knowledge.  It bears religious meaningfulness for adherents, yet, absent guile, resonates as meaningful for any and all.  There is a continuity between existing and relating.  This is the gift of The Glyph.  

The gift of meaning is one of “I can relate.”  Yet relating to the central mystery of the universe’s relatability is rare.  Few do not take it for granted.  We are accustomed to placing mysteries at the feet of science, philosophy, or religion.  We happily defer to, or even participate in, collaborative meaning-making and, in doing so, lose sight of the continuity between existing and relating that makes the enterprising ways of humanity possible.   

When structure-function and existing-relating are taken as one, we witness the translating in action.   Their synergy is demonstratively and existentially creative and, through it, it is easy to be meaningfully aware.  Therein, we recognize and are invited to partake in tangible displays of the ceaseless relational mojo of The Glyph, ever faithful in translating the intangibles of pretense, perception, and mystery into the reality content we hunger for.

The Glyph’s structural features, as well as the necessity of its intangible but utter effectiveness, can be understood in relation to the system it potentiates.   A tried and true set of cosmological relationships is its “backbone.”  If you are familiar with the basic character of photons, elemental matter, gravity, heat, radiation, and dark energy, rest assured The Glyph is a response to the phenomenal universe itself.  In this, trust in your reflexively awe-inspired observation that the cosmos, with its equal parts clockwork and surprise, is at its core a potentiated yet dependable system.  

For most, of greater interest than the Glyph’s relationship to the underpinnings of the universe is the question of The Glyph and direct experience.  A fundamental and yet intangible expression of the universe, The Glyph unveils for us a reality that is, above all, equally predictable and rife with mystery and paradox.  The challenge herein is to prove that this newcomer itself belongs within, indeed at the forefront, of a catalogue of the various observant and inspired accounts that make up human wisdom.  For that we must explore knowledge as we might know it, blessed as it is within both religious and scientific wisdom, balanced by a desire for sound philosophy and policy, all made relevant within the Sign of our Times.  

Systematic study and new awareness of The Glyph shall ready us to handily and meaningfully relate, beginning with contemplation, to reality beyond those global affairs fueled today only by our own grief, shame, abandonment, and despair.  Those are but shadows over our phenomenally perceptual, and with that more thoughtful, selves.

Journey to the Bridge of Wonders is a fairy tale I am working on.  It's for both children and wondrous adults.   At the end the heroine encounters a much-awaited "sign".  While the fairy tale is allegorical fiction, the Glyph itself is not.
